Big Sur's Treebones Resort
BY DENISE D. STANSFIELD
Big Sur Big Sur A very unique and close to nature lodging experience allowing you to share quiet time with nature, yourself and others.
You don't have to jump on a plane to find paradise. Just hop in your vehicle and head south down highway one on a breathtaking drive along the Big Sur Coast. This magnificent coastal drive begins just an hour south from Santa Cruz, in Carmel and stretches all the way south to San Simeon. Perched lightly above this spectacular coastline, just a mile north of Gorda is the eco-friendly lodge, Treebones Resort. The resort is approximately two and one half hours from Santa Cruz and is the only lodging of its kind in Big Sur.

Sixteen Yurts are softly nestled into the cliff, some with full ocean views create all the comforts of a cabin at Treebones Resort. Tasteful decor embellishes the interiors including polished wood floors, comfortable beds, fresh linens, electricity, hot and cold running water and wood burning stoves.

All the yurts are situated together below the main lodge except for yurts 15 and 16, which provide more privacy. Bathrooms and Showers are a short stroll up the pathways to the main lodge where there is a restaurant, gift shop, pool and spa. Dinners are served nightly and a complimentary waffle breakfast every morning. The welcoming staff and comfortable ambiance is one of the best features at Treebones Resort.

Treebones Resort was conceptualized, designed and created to provide lodging with minimal impact on the environment. The Yurts are well suited for this purpose. The Resort has accomplished great efforts in keeping in harmony with nature. Propane powered micro turbines that are extremely efficient and have clean exhaust generate the Property's electricity. The Yurts have "on demand" water heaters and the lodge has radiant heated floors. You can drink spring water fresh from the tap.

Big Sur The Big Sur coastline is teaming with sea life. In the off season during the winter months, Whale watching has become a popular watch time while Dolphins run in schools along the shore. This thriving coastline offers ocean enthusiast some of the best diving, snorkeling, surfing, sea kayaking and hiking on this planet. For those whom seek rest and relaxation, the secluded beaches provide a place for solitude, meditation as well as exhilarating walks. Big Sur Valley is 40 minutes north by car. The valley is laced with art galleries and shops as well as some great restaurants.
